TypeAssist AI
This Privacy Policy explains how TypeAssist AI ("we", "us", or "the app") handles information when you use our iOS keyboard and companion app. By using TypeAssist AI, you agree to the practices described below.
1. Our core principle
TypeAssist AI is a writing tool, not a tracking tool. We do not log your keystrokes and we do not run in the background. The app only processes text at the moment you deliberately select text and tap an AI action.
2. Information we process
Text you choose to transform
When you select text and tap an action (such as Fix Grammar, Change Tone, or Translate), that selected text is sent to our AI processing service to generate a rewritten result, which is returned to your keyboard. This happens only when you actively trigger an action.
What we do not collect
- We do not record or store a log of everything you type.
- We do not read text unless you select it and request an action.
- We do not sell your data to third parties.
- We do not use your text to build advertising profiles.
3. Full Access
iOS requires custom keyboards to have "Allow Full Access" enabled in order to send selected text to a network service. TypeAssist AI uses Full Access solely to read the text you select and to return the rewritten result. It is not used to monitor your activity or capture data in the background.
4. How your text is processed
When you trigger an AI action, your selected text is transmitted securely over HTTPS to our backend, which forwards it to OpenAI to generate the rewritten result. The result is returned to your keyboard and shown to you. Your text is used only to fulfil that request and produce the output — nothing more.
5. Third-party AI provider (OpenAI)
TypeAssist AI uses the OpenAI API to power its writing features. The text you submit for an action is sent to OpenAI solely to generate your result. Per OpenAI's API data usage policy, content sent through the API is not used to train OpenAI's models. OpenAI's handling of API data is governed by their own agreements; you can review OpenAI's privacy practices at openai.com/policies/privacy-policy. We do not use the content of your requests to train any models of our own.
6. Subscriptions
Purchases and subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store your payment card details. Apple provides us with limited information needed to validate your subscription status. Apple's handling of your data is governed by Apple's own privacy policy.
7. Diagnostics
We may collect limited, anonymized technical information (such as crash reports or error counts) to keep the app stable. This information does not identify you and does not include the content of your text.
8. Data retention
Selected text is processed to generate your result and is not retained to build a profile about you. Any transient processing data is kept only as long as necessary to deliver the feature and maintain service reliability.
9. Children's privacy
TypeAssist AI is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
10. Your choices
You can stop all text processing at any time by disabling Full Access or removing the keyboard in Settings › General › Keyboard › Keyboards. You can delete the app to remove it entirely from your device.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the "Last updated" date above. Material changes may also be communicated in the app.
